  • Last academic year, water use in the residence halls and apartments decreased by 6% from the previous year

Student Housing practices

  • Installing Hydration Stations in all residence halls and dining commons
  • Providing ENERGY STAR washing machines
  • Retrofitting all toilets with ultra-low flush toilets
  • Managing irrigation with a computer system that accounts for current conditions
  • Operating a chemical free water softener system (Dolphin Systems)
  • All bathrooms have 1.0 gpm (gallons per minute) faucets and 1.5 gpm showerheads

What you can do

  • Take shorter showers, aim for five minutes or less
  • Turn off the faucet when not using the water
  • Use the washing machine for full loads only
  • Don't use the toilet as a wastebasket
  • Report leaks using Student Housing's online Repair Request service
