We generally have a couple spaces available every quarter, with more in the fall (and lots more for just the summer). Also, sometimes people will move out with short notice. If you're interested in living with us, drop by and check out the place. We'll probably show you around and then ask that you submit an application to the Student Housing Office (available at 160 Student Housing). We also will ask you to fill out our two-page questionnaire which has some questions about your personality.
The DSC Community
We are a community of individuals and, as such, every year the "flavor" of the community changes as people move in and out. However, there are some things which have tended to be constant from one year to the next. Among these are:
- Communication and cooperation--flexibility is very important
- Vegetarian communal dinners, Sunday through Thursday
- 5-10 hours per week of house responsibilities (cooking, chores, meetings)
- Decisions by consensus (what is consensus?)
- Low-impact ideals: reducing, reusing, recycling, composting, gardening, buying organic
- Rotating rooms quarterly between sharing and singles (more about the rooms)
- Cats, kitties, and feline companion animals (meet Maria)
- Occasional work parties for gardening, cleaning house, or building projects
- Working together with Pierce and Agrarian Effort, the other two houses in the tri-co-op community
